Late 2009 Art Exhibits and Displays
Here's some more of what I took part in in 2009.
Rio Abajo Days
September 26th

Mayor Ronnie Torres is an art supporter. He closed down Becker Street from Main Street to 5th Street and filled it with colorful tents full of art, crafts, food, music and fun. The days events were kicked off with a colorful parade of floats bedecked in jewel tones.
Belen Art League
filled the sidewalks and parking spaces in front of our gallery with a wide array of wonderful works of art.
Belen Art League Fall Show
October 17th - November 8th
The fall show was a great success. We had 52 artists enter 260 works of art. There were a lot of large paintings this time and more people showing their photography skills. Quite a few pieces were sold during the show. Our judge was Maggie Price,

from Rio Rancho, New Mexico. I entered three photographs of two abandoned buildings in Punta de Agua, New Mexico, which is near the Quarai ruins. I call them "Overgrown", "Abandoned", and " Neglected". I was awarded
First Place
for the one called "Overgrown".
Belen's Festival of Lights
Belen Art League Gallery & Gifts Open House
November 28th

The day started with the first ever Miracle on Main Street Balloon Rally. Our gallery was open as usual, but this time we stayed open through the evening. Our president, Sally Nitler, accompanied by some of our members, braved the cold to be in the parade. It literally rained on our parade. The rain cancelled the balloon glow. Becker Street was closed off and lined with booths. There were Search lights in the MVD parking lot. The rain caused the tent booths to close up early, leaving us to welcome chilly festival goers with hot cider in our warm, dry gallery.I designed the flyer for this event. The gallery was was extra beautiful with it's Christmas decorations. Many artists were on hand to greet the revelers.
