Harvey House Museum

Located at 104 North 1st Street, the museum is run by the non-profit Valencia County Historical Society. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm and Sundays from 1 - 3 pm. Admission is free. For more information call (505) 861-0581.

The dining hall is used by local groups for annual functions including the Belen Art League's Spring and Fall Art Shows, the model train club's large display and the local fiber groups Fiber Show.

Upstairs the rooms, formerly occupied by the Harvey Girls who lived there, now house a variety of museum displays on the local history. Each room has a different theme such as beauty shop, banking, school and my favorite the movie room.

How To Get There

Drive past the Wal-Mart, under the underpass and merge with Hwy 314 / Main Street. Drive past the Giant, over the overpass and to the second light. Turn left on Reinken Avenue and proceed toward the mountains (East). Turn right at the 3rd Street light. Go one block and turn left on Dalies Avenue. Go two blocks and turn right on 1st Street. The Harvey House is on the left and has parking to the Northwest and South of the building.

FROM I-25, EXIT 191:

Exit the freeway and turn East, toward the mountains. Drive past Belen Meadows Nursing Home to the light at Main Street. Turn left, North, and go to the second light at Becker Street. Turn right on Becker Street (at City Hall) and proceed toward the mountains (East), all the way to 1st Street. Turn left on 1st Street. The Harvey House is on the right and has parking to the Northwest and South of the building.

HWY 314, SOUTH FROM ALBUQUERQUE AND POINTS NORTH:

Drive South through Los Lunas and Los Chaves. Pass the turn off to I-25 exit 195 and past the Giant, over the overpass and to the second light. Turn left on Reinken Avenue and proceed toward the mountains (East). Turn right at the 3rd Street light. Go one block and turn left on Dalies Avenue. Go two blocks and turn right on 1st Street. The Harvey House is on the left and has parking to the Northwest and South of the building.

HWY 47, SOUTH FROM ALBUQUERQUE AND POINTS NORTH:

Drive South through Bosque Farms, Peralta and Los Lunas to the Valencia Y. There's a traffic light at the Walgreen's, turn left to stay on Hwy 47. Continue through the Meadow Lake intersection on down to Rio Communities (Allsups). Take a right at the light, to go West on River Road, which becomes Reinken Ave. Continue over the train tracks. Turn left at the light at 3rd Street. Go one block and turn left on Dalies Avenue. Go two blocks and turn right on 1st Street. The Harvey House is on the left and has parking to the Northwest and South of the building.

THE BELEN RAIL RUNNER STATION:

From the plaltform lot of the Belen Rail Runner Station, walk up the ramp to the top of the Reinken Ave. Take the new pedestrian crossing above the bridge and make your way down the stairs or ramps. From the stairs go left to 1st Street, then right about 1 1/2 blocks. The Harvey House will be on your left. From the bottom of the ramp turn left on 2nd Street to Dalies Avenue. Turn left and go two blocks. Turn right on 1st Street. The Harvey House is on the left.
