Lattice-Topped Fruit Pie Potholder
Materials: Worsted weight yarn, approx.: 2oz off white or cream for crust 1oz dark red for cherry, dark blue for blueberry, light orange for peach Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook Bottom Crust Work basic circle with off white for 6 rnds, finish off – 76 dc. Filling Work basic circle with fruit color for 6 rnds, finish off – 76 dc. Lattice Crust With off white make dc strips: 2 long, 4 medium, 2 short Long: Ch 30, turn, dc in 4th st from hook, dc in each st across, finish off – 28 dc. Medium: Ch 27, turn, dc in 4th st from hook, dc in each st across, finish off – 25 dc. Short: Ch 17, turn, dc in 4th st from hook, dc in each st across, finish off – 15 dc. Finishing With wrong sides of white and fruit colored circles tog, weave white strips into lattice pattern and place against fruit colored circle with all wrong sides ((of stripes)) against the fruit color. Working through all loops of all pieces join white at end of long strip, ch 2, dc in same st, 2 dc in 2nd st of same long strip, 2 dc in each st around, ((use 2 circle sts for each lattice strip: long strip, 3 circle sts, medium strip, short strip, 3 circle sts, short strip, medium strip, 3 circle sts repeat all around)) , sl st to top of ch 3, finish off. Loop Ch 5, join with a sl st to form a ring. Work 10 sc in ring; sl st to first sc, finish off. Attach to outside sts of bottom crust behind finishing sts.
