About Me

Hi, I don’t fit into any one pigeonhole. I’m a designer, an artist and a photographer.

I like to draw in the “dry” media of pencil, charcoal and technical pen. I learned pencil and charcoal in school. I took to using tech pen when I studied graphic arts. I like the neatness of the ink cartridges and the consistent lines. I’m studying colored pencil these days and then plan to go on to pastels.

I began photographing a variety of subjects for my drawings with my first 110 camera back in 1970. I turned pro several years ago when I realized my photos were as good as what I was seeing in local art shows.

I’ve always loved jewelry. I resisted getting into making it until a few years ago because it would require adding more “stuff” to my studio.

I learned to crochet in grade school. Some ladies would come to the school after classes and teach whoever wanted to learn. I remember my first project was a vest in a rainbow colored variegated yarn. They taught us without patterns. It was quite loose with narrow front panels and huge arm holes. Soon after I made another vest redesigning it to be more fitted. I was hooked.

My grand aunt tried to teach me to knit but my tension was way too tight so it took a while for me to master knitting. I was persistent and eventually I found a book that helped me break through my barrier.

My mom taught me my first embroidery skills, but she doesn’t remember this. I prefer plain counted cross stitch. I like the challenge of creating images with little x’s. I caught the bug to design cross stitch when I worked for needlepoint designer Peter Ashe.

I’m also a creative problem solver. I have a wide variety of interests, experiences and knowledge upon which to draw for creative solutions. This site is my opportunity to share my creativity with you and hopefully present one or more solutions to your creative problems.
